It's the end of the Golden era on St. Helena Island. Joyce Golden's family has ceased operations at their shrimp dock, leaving Beaufort County with one less working waterfront. The Goldens have been shrimping in Lowcountry waters ever since I can remember. They were also one of a handful of seafood outlets that carry Certified South Carolina Grown shrimp in Beaufort County. When shopping for shrimp, look for the logo. And always ask for SC shrimp. A few of the markets sell imports as well, so if you want local shrimp, you have to ask specifically.
